Hello!! My name is Misty Byrd. I am honored to teach your 2nd grader this year at International Studies! This is my 20th year of teaching, which has been in multiple grade levels ranging from 1st grade to 6th grade. I have spent the last 6 years teaching 1st grade at I.S. and am blessed with the opportunity to move up this year! I am so thankful that you all are joining me on this journey to 2nd grade!
Here are a few more tidbits about me:
*I have two beautiful children who keep me extremely busy!! My daughter, Savannah, is a senior at JHS. My son, Caden, is a 7th grader at Annie Camp Junior High.
*I graduated in August 2020 with my master's degree in reading and and again in May 2022 with my specialist's degree in reading!
*I am a huge sports' fan. I love watching football, basketball, and running events at all levels. I enjoy cheering my kids' teams as well as Jonesboro Hurricane, ASU Red Wolves, and Oklahoma City Thunder!!
*I am an avid reader. My love of reading was ignited by my school librarian. I am so thankful she shared her enthusiasm for reading with me. My hope is to do the same for each child who enters my classroom.
*I enjoy cooking/baking. I like to try new recipes and tweak them to make them my very own!
*I am what some call a "Coffee Snob!!!" I appreciate a good cup of coffee!!
*My favorite color is pink, and I love to collect crosses and inspirational quotes.
Parents, I want to thank you for allowing me to be your child's teacher this year. Please know I will always have your child's best interest at heart; however, I realize that YOU are their absolute #1 advocate. With this in mind, NEVER hesitate to contact me if you ever have any questions, concerns, or suggestions. My door is always open, and I am an email or a phone call away. Together, we will have the best year at International Studies!!
I look forward to meeting each family at Open House (August 8th @ 6:00). And I can hardly wait until the 1st day of school (August 14th)!!
